Shannon Maitland, MPA

Since graduate school, I have been working in person and remotely with interdisciplinary teams at the county, regional, state, and national levels, often dreaming up ideas with colleagues that would make our community stronger, then effectively, efficiently, and collectively building innovative ways to implement these new partnership possibilities.

My leadership style incorporates best practice research and data analysis, strong verbal and written communication skills, and highly adept problem-solving capabilities that I believe make me an excellent candidate for serving your organization. I incorporate a combination of neuroscience, history, data analysis, and passion to fuel my efforts.

The roles I held within a small nonprofits included the duties of a Professional Development Manager, Human Resources Manager, Budget Manager, Grant Manager, Graphic Designer, Marketing Specialist, and IT Support.

For over fifteen years, I have been leading efforts to serve diverse groups in respectful ways through nonprofit management, systems building, focus groups, and collaborative summits.

When I joined the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative (KRC), I was asked to implement the Strategic Plan. Nearly six years later, KRC has blossomed into a trusted resource in the community, facilitator of partnerships and events, recipient of multiple philanthropic and grant awards, and winner of the 2017 211 Nonprofit Rising Star of the Year.
Most importantly, the program is trusted and cherished by local children and parents, where each and every day, the program makes a difference in the lives of our community. In multiple leadership roles within this nonprofit, I was charged with developing diverse teams, simultaneously managing multiple programmatic pieces, incorporating collaborative stakeholder voices, promoting quality education experiences, facilitating interactive workshops, and supporting families.
As the leader of a community collaborative, I was often responsible for convening cross-sector groups, then producing written documentation, trainings, and reports to continue our progress.
While earning my Master of Public Administration Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University, I had immediate hands-on experience as a Graduate Research Assistant, learning best practices and reviewing case studies in nonprofit accounting, human resources, statistical software programs, technical writing, strategic planning, organizational structure, management and leadership, urban planning, grant writing, and cross sector partnerships. This was when I discovered that I have an ability to write and speak a common language, often translating technical terms into easier to understand words that allow people from a wide variety of fields, specialties, and backgrounds to come together happily while engaging in constructive conversations. I have a passion for helping people better themselves by sharing information and knowledge.

My life experiences helped shape me to become someone who is determined, data driven, and logical thinking. I can talk with people from all different walks of life, from impoverished children and recent immigrants to Fortune 100 CEOs. As you will see, I am passionate about advocating for a system that is set up to promote meaningful, positive experiences.
